So with the 5D MKII now in people's hands, do we need a new forum for videos?

I shot my first one last night by Christmas tree light. I know, amazing. ISO was around 2000. I shot with an 85 1.2 L wide open (yes, 1.2). DOF was nothing. Paper thin.

The video was handheld so is jumpy. And it is short. But I was very impressed with the quality overall.

Nothing that I can see.

But not what I was thinking of....

Based on The OP's other posts in the G+N section, he is probably suggesting a G+N style section for videos (Something with warnings of NSFW content.)

Well we don't really know since he never answered. And nobody (to my knowledge) is mind readers.

I'm resurrecting this thread because I do think there needs to be a place designated for sharing videos, OR open up the "Photo Sharing" are to videos as well.

The Digital Video area is in the 'Knowhow" section of the forum, which isn't really for sharing video.

Not to suggest video is unwanted, or not respected... but this is "photography-on-the.net" ....
maybe you should see if "video-on-the.net" is already taken?

Well, I think it would be unfortunate to exclude video, and if it was excluded I would hope it would be for reasons beyond simply the name of the forum.

But whether video is included or excluded, I think there should be a publicly stated policy about it. We shouldn't be left to guess where or if it should be shared on this forum.

So far I can't find anything in the rules about video and where it is appropriate to share.

We shouldn't exclude it, but i do think maybe a section should exist where people can ask for video review - posting links for example (there's no need for the forum to support video attachments).

Post videos in the respective share photo forums. As we have stated many times before creating a new forum requires the volume to support it and currently there simply is not enough members posting or wanting to post videos to warrent a new forum specifically for video. So for now just post them in the photo share forums. Some users actually already do that.

I got my new DSLR this month So cool All it can do is still photos. I felt like my money went toward better ISO and a faster processor. I had the video stuff on the Powershots and never used it.Isn't the Utube thing where video people go?

Some people have figured out that they can post vids in the photo-sharing sections. I have seen numerous videos in the macro and bird forums in particular.

Isn't the Utube thing where video people go?

not exactly... work here is held to a higher standard and I welcome the addition of quality videos to this site.
