I am a newbie so please be kind. I took some pictures of my son in the bath and need some critiqueing (sp?). ANyway, the pictures were taken with the 300d in the no flash mode as i currently do not own a separate flash. What did try and do was create enough light (i brought in 2 regular house lamps that were pretty bright), to light up the room. Problem is that the pictures took on a red hue, even though the room did not apopear red during the shooting. I simply do not know enough to know what to adjust. I tried exposure bracketing and that did not help. is it the white balance? Also, is there a way to turn of the flash mode in the other preset modes. It seems like no matter how much light there is, that darn flash wants to pop up and ruin my pictures.

You could adjust your color temperature. I would try setting it at 3200K and playing around until it looks natural. Don't take my word on it though, I'm still new at this. :)

you need to change th ewhitebalance to tungsten light.
or shot in RAW and adjust after with something like zoombowser to convert raw - or photoshop CS.
I have just tried in photshop used autocolour
heres the result

I this with PhotoImpact. Find something that should be white (it's amazing how often you can find white or gray in any picture) and make it white - "smart" tab on color balance.

Custom wb might help as well, of coarse it's hard to capture anything spontanious, when you are shooting white or grey cards.

Great picture. I would be careful bringing 120V lights into a bathroom with an infant in the tub. I know from whence I speak -- am father of two active boys and was often soaked in that setting.

I am not sure what lens you were using but you could have tried a few with the pop up flash and if it was too bright throw a piece of tissue paper over it to soften it up. I took some pictures just like this the first night I had my DR and was very happy with the results. We have white tile all around the tub so the light was very even. Hope this helps.
It was a very nice pose!
