Does anyone know if CS4 is designed specifically to efficiently and equally use all four cores of a QUAD CPU versus primarily using the first two cores as do many current applications?

Also, does Vista-64 bit take advantage of a quad core too?

They both will take advantage of quad core.

How well, that's another question all together. It should do a pretty good job of it.

Photoshop and Bridge/ACR definitely make use of all four cores.

I was just watching a tech show and the nVidia rep said Adobe's CS4 is also optimized for their GPU as well. I've also been hearing that CS5 (if Adobe stays on schedule will come out in 18 months) will take advantage of OpenCL coming in Snow Leopard.

Quad cores run threads. They cant break up a single calculation into parts. So you will never truley get equal coverage. One core may be working on a long thread while the others are doing several small ones. But to answer the question CS4 is optimized for multiple cores.

What is the recommend RAM for CS4... I currently running with 6gb of RAM thinking if I should put the extra 2gb

Running on a Triple Core AMD 2.11GHz

They recommend you have RAM, the amount depends on what you're doing.

RAM is so dirt cheap these days, might as well grab the extra 2GB ram :)

I'd be curious to see this actually bench-marked. If you know some web site that has done so, please do tell! :)

what os? (32bit or 64?) I'm guessing 64, since you already have 6gb... but just checking.
