Took this with a 100-400mm from a long distance. Is cropped alot but I like the colours.

I really like how you didn't center the deer! I see a lot of people do that and you would be missing out on the wildlife of the tree if you did that. Great Job!

Sorry to change the subject(of the pic).How are you finding the lens(the 100-400 f.4L IS.......that is the one right).I'm going to get one at the end of the month,so it would be nice to here you're views :cool:

Alan, I think that anyone that has the EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 IS USM lens will say the same thing. It is an awsome zoom lens, probably one of the best. This deer was aprox. 350 meters away when I took the shot HAND HELD with IS on and my arms resting on the truck door. I shot in Raw format. Settings were 1/800sec., f5.6, ISO 200. I cropped, sharpened with unsharpen mask, and resized, the photo in PSE3. I doubt I could still get this much detail with a lesser lens. In my opinion if you can get your hands on one , do it. You won't regret it.
