I was wondering if anybody here has used Canon's 28-300 f/3.5-5.6L IS USM? What did you think? Pros? Cons? all the usual stuff.
Thanks in advance.

EF 28-300 L USM is a wonderful travel lens. Consider you bring one lens along and you cover all the focal lengths you use, including birding if you are using 1.6x crop factor camera like 20D and 300D. It is sharp but not as sharp as the shorter range zoom like 24-70 L, 28-70L or 70-200L f2.8. However, the push pull zoom is quite troublesome if you are not accustomed to and fixing a focal length at the middle range like 200mm, 135mm is quite a pain to someone (but if you are patient it is okay, and I am okay for it too).
Barrel distortion? Not better than the shorter range zoom but definitely alright. And I love its IS very much.
Shooting "heavily" with handhold camera is a pain but a monopod is very great idea especially for long time shooting.
