I have been approached and asked to shoot some kitchens for a brochure and possibly for posters for the manufacturers showroom.
Any tips on angles, dos don'ts, lighting?
I only have 1 flash at the moment that I can run remotely.
Thanks in advance

- shoot raw
- use bounce flash where possible
- use a tripod and:
- shoot multiple images with the bounced light going into different areas so they can be blended in photoshop
- shoot multiple exposures so you can cover the dynamic range with light ranging from dark shadowy corners to bright outside windows
- blown windows in interior shots look really unprofessional
- do NOT use hdr to put the images together unless you are able to create a realistic looking picture. the overly-tonemapped images so popular here are totally hated by art directors who think they're crap and not usable. Trust me.
- get the flash off the camera so you can further manipulate your lighting source
- shoot bounced with / without a stoffen cup
- watch for reflections
- watch for shadows (example: horribly large shadows created by ceiling fans)
- pay attention to your depth of field and/or selective focusing
- use wide angle and when/if necessary or preferred correct perspectives in PS
- using the raw images, in photoshop blend together different images and different exposures (outputs) of the same image.
Hope that helps. Good luck.
