Been meaning to put these up for ages - some pictures from my trip to Tibet last year.

Taken using a 300D and 10-22mm mostly. Single exception being the panoramic which was taken using a 75-300mm F/4-5.6 of all things! (really need to get myself a 70-200 F/4L)

So in chronological order..

The Barkhor circuit in Lhasa

Very annoyingly I noticed when I got back that there's a couple of dust specs on the sensor which has meant I've had to clean/edit all the shots I want to keep.

Most pics taken with my new Canon 10-22mm F/3.5-4.5 ultra wide angle which is a lot of fun to play with, can defintely recommend it. Couple of the closer shots taken with 50mm F/1.8 MKII. Panoramic taken using a 75-300mm on a tripod.

Suffice to say back then I was pretty happy with quite a few of these shots - now that I've learned more in terms of controlling the camera manually I'd love to go back and retry... especially the milky way shot - I've never seen a night sky like that, such a tapestry of stars. Shame it came out so badly.

This trip took place last October... I've just upgraded to a 40D and 17-55 F/2.8 IS :) I still have the 10-22 and 50mm. I'm off to New York for the best part of 3 weeks soon, so I'll post my shots from there mid January. At that time I'd appreciate your critique of how my shooting has evolved and where I could still be making mistakes.

Of course I'd appreciate any comments on the above shots as well!

Cheers

Jumping around and the Pano shot are AWESOME. Don't get me wrong I find they are all good, some better than others, But those two are cool.

I dual monitors at work. Sure wish there was a way to make the pano-shot work to cover them both. My dream is to take pictures from ON Everest someday. Great work. Glad to see you made it home safe.

I've never been to Tibet - so thank you for showing me around :)

I also found jump around a lil amusing. things you do for composition :) who were the two others in that shot, and did you force them to jump? lol

re: milky way shot - i think something like that would be very hard without some kind of noise reduction program or a better camera body. you obviously had a pretty high iso set up, hence all that grain.

in terms of critique - the best advise really, as futile as it sounds, is to keep shooting. from the photos you have a basic understanding, but just need to keep practising.

i envy you, as new york would be an urban haven for photographs :)

I enjoyed your pictures of Lhasa and Tibet. Joan and I had a great 4 days in Lhasa in Late September of this year. We both felt very much at home.
