Wandering around Central one evening, I discovered the Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank is now throwing its money behind horse-racing and has the icon to prove it.

I shot the horse, as it were, from one direction and then walked around to try his other side.
There was one couple who simply wouldn't get out of the way, so I ended up making them a part of the picture. It's not often you can capture an outlaw -- no one's supposed to get on the horse -- and the firing of a camera flash in the same instant.

Another thing about this photo is that there's a huge blue-and-white Motorola website sign on top of the tram stop that dominates any scene. But here, a double-decker bus is streaking by and has at least blurred it into the wide white band you now see. You can see the blur of the bus behind our cowboy.
So I figure with three amazing coincidences, it was worth posting, whatever its artistic merits (few).
Cheers,
Don

I saw that one outside Star House the other day. I dunno how come it "ran" across the habour! :D
BTW, there seems to be a slight problem with focus of the 2nd one. Looks like as if it had gone to the ad in the bus stop, if you don't mind. It isjust me, may be. :)
Keep on sharing with us, Don!

terrific picture showing all that money pattern on the horse
not mad about what it may signify
(what you say regards horse racing , its happening everywhere and corruption sometimes goes hand and hand with it )
but its a great 'shot' you took
('they shoot horse's, don't they'
loved that film : )
seeing the fellow could remind some of roy rodgers astride trigger
just as well the fellow leapt up on it
(he may be worried that you would report him now )
amazing that the lady ' flashed' just as you did
(was that a' pun' or was it not : ))))))
and notice the lights from the motorola sign actually did show themselves in the 'stand which the horse is perched on
I don't think they are the lights from the signs on the bus shelter itself
seems to me like it is the reflection of the sign you mention which got blotted out by the moving ( red streak ) bus
interesting that
The red taxi is really nice there also
could be a police car because, just remembered,
the photos of your taxi's all together some while ago
I think they were yellow or an orange colour
all the details, left in the picture are nice

Hi Griffin,
I never saw this pony over in Tsimshatsui. I imagine it looks better under the bank, however.
I think the focus is your eyes. The horse designs look real sharp to me and at the distance I was standing everything should have been in focus in any case.
As for sharing, I've decided that some of my galleries are getting pretty full and I really don't expect friends to wander through every week looking for new additions, so I thought I would post good pictures here when I put them on the website.
It's also a place I can post pictures that will never get put on the website. :p
Thanks for your commments.

Hi Marie,
Thanks as always for your observations. That's a taxi back there. Taxis are red in the urban districts, light (ugly) green in New Territories. The reason you remember yellow is the yellow color cast in my photo of taxis that was caused by the street lamps.
Cheers,
Don
