<first post>
I have always wanted to get a shot of a bird singing with condensation coming out of it's mouth and the other day there he was. I was using the top end of a 75-300 Canon USM III and I had to crop this right in. I have just started to get used to my Canon 300D and I am getting a little frustrated. Although it is not a great shot with the twig being in the way, it was close.
I am new to this forum and it looks like there is some good stuff going on here.
Any comments? Is cropping in a bit of a cheat?

Jeremy, welcome to the forum.
The picture sounds great - but I can't see it here. Now I am itching to see it!

Thanks for your comments. I am in Westbury Park - where are you? What I really find annoying about Bristol is that when there is going to be a good sunset in the evening, I rarely have a good place to go to get a good vantage point. Do you have anywhere in your neck of the woods? Any pix? I have to wait until I go to Cornwall.
EOS20D eh? Nice. Just couldn't get the licence to get one of those from the wife. 300D for me - still getting used to it.

Hi there
I live at Yate.I have the same trouble with the sunset shot,cuz there too many power pilons dotted around the country side :evil: .But 5 mins up the road i can get good shots(yet to do any tho :o )

I shall keep my eye out for you on this forum. I might well put some Bristol shots up there soon. Only have a couple that are much cop - suspension bridge, down etc.
Where's the good spot up Yate way? You'll have some nice fields etc to use as a foreground.

haha i was thinking about photographing those colour'd houses :cool:
The best place for the sunsets by me is anywhere up or down the A38.
