While I was shooting some photos, I came across this insect crawling all over the snow. Can someone be able to tell me what it is?

Is it an "Earwig"?
Or some kind of termite?

Yuck... out in the snow no less?

I was shooting photos on top of frozen water in Belleville. Around an hour later, more and more of these little "buggers" started to appear. It's pretty creepy because you're surrounded and they slowly approched us. Not sure if it's our body heat or something that attracted them but none of us really stayed for "their" lunch...

I think is is of the Order Diplura - meaning literally "double tail", referring to the long cerci at the rear of the abdomen. It could be of the Family Campodeidae based on the location and the long cerci which are straight rather than pincers. Hope this gives you something to go on.

I could of course be talking complete rubbish! :)

I was told that this is a "snow flea" also know as "springtails". Unlike fleas that live in animals, they "live in soil, leaf litter and under bark".

I tried searching the internet but still not find photos similar.

It's that thing from Wrath of Khan that climbs in your Ear and makes you go insane,. (and of course as an odd side effect,. you'll also do whatever Khan tells you too)

Thans for the info. I checked it out but it does not look like the bug I found. The bug is less than 10mm in length and have what looks like wings on it's back. I was fortunate enough to get a super closeup shot at it.

Good thing it did not control me YET like what CDS suggested.

I'd suggest you post a copy of your image to the ID request section of BugGuide.net. Someone there should know.
