C & C welcome (be gentle ;)) . My first attempt at off camera flash. There are a few technical problems I am aware of, but I like the results for a first try. Things to work on 1) Need to add fill or reflector on left to soften shadow 2) cut off his feet  3) need to have mommy closer to me so he will look at the camera :) 4) also in the market for a better background

Sunpak 383 - camera right at 45 deg. shot through umbrella
430 EX - in manual mode, about three stops down from key, bounced off ceiling, with bounce card for catch lights (and to fire optical slave on Sunpak)

Oh my word, he is gorgeous! I LOVE it and think the color and lighting look great!

Maybe edit out those little spot on his left pant leg.

Great Job! Gee wish I could have done half as good as that on my first go at off- camera flash.

Quite nice start. Why bounce the flash for fill? I think your bg is nice it just needs more light so that it shows up as white (if it is white). I also got 4 month old son and agree completely with your no #3 tip.

Great start, glad your enjoying the Sunpaks.

As far as getting kids to look at the camera, I either hang a toy from the lens that makes noise or gaffer tape it to the top of the lens hood to keep the kids attention ;)
