Nice shots.
I won't pick one.
I'd say 1,2,and 4 make a good 3 set.

Preying Mantises are perhaps my favourite insects. I love them. Used to spend hours watching them when I was a kid.
At first glance I really liked all these shots. I couldn't really decide which was my favourite, so I stopped to do a quick 15 second critique of them to help me figure it out. My thoughts are as follows*
1. Great frame, nice detail on face and forepaw. I really like this shot.
2. Great personality in this shot, but hte angle and framing isn't as strong as #1.
3. Awesome expression on her face in this one, but the way her face kinda leaps out o fhte boke is a little odd.
4. This one is better than 3, but I don't think it has as much going for it as either of hte first couple.
5. I like this one heaps. Not as much as the first I think, but still lolike it a heckuva lot. DoF gives some deapth to her head which is really unusual in mantis macro.
6. Kinda doesn't quite work for me at all. Funny foreground boke over the in focus leaf in the bottom left is distracting, I think I don' tlike the face with onlu one eye visible too. And it being off centre in this frame also detracts from the strength of the composition.
7. This shot is kinda nice, but maybe lacks a little pop.
I think after that I liked #1 most, closely followed by #5. I couldn't help thinking after looking at them that I would love to have seen a few shots from a perspective that was a little lower just to see how they'd work.
*If I am at all harsh, please forgive me. I am trying hard to tone my c&c down cause the interwebs can make this stuff come out really severe indeed. I wouldn't take the time to comment at all if I didn't think they were worth my energy.

Awesome shots and I like number 5. I like the pose that it's doing, almost like it has an attitude haha.
