... any way to make it work?
Do this:
- go to advanced search
- in the Search by User Name box enter "bob" no quotes (or any common name)
- wait for the system to display the pick list with all users beginning with "bob"
It doesn't allow scrolling to the additional "bobs" that are obviously in a much longer list.
At least on my system. I've tried both IE and Fox 3.
Thanks.

There are 291 users with "bob" in their username. That dropdown box is supposed to be a memory help, not a search tool itself - that is why it has limited scope. You can search member names in http://photography-on-the.net/forum/memberlist.php

Thank you for your reply, Pekka. Yes, I realize it is not a search tool and am not using it as such. Nonetheless, it would be much more convenient and of a better design if that drop down box had a scroll bar allowing a user to click a name as opposed to windowing back and forth between the user list and the search screen.
However, if that is not an option you have as administrator, then POTN has nothing to do with nor control over that function. That would be with the designers of the application and perhaps I will make a suggestion there.

That is correct. It is not a thing that can be configured by the admin without modifying code.

I get the 403 forbidden page after clicking one of the search results threads.
403 Forbidden
Access to this resource on the server is denied!
Currently logged in (obviously). I'm also using latest version of Opera. Anyone else experiencing this?

What was that thread? What did you search for?

I get that 403 forbidden page with the keywords: ' naneu echo'. The results show up correctly, but the 403 page pops up whenever I try to click on them.
These are the threads that appear after searching with those keywords:
Buying a lens and bag for my DSLR questions!~!
Naneu Echo bag..
Is it possible that those threads are 'dead'?
