I have found a G9 I can purchase for $375 + tax. Amazon has the G10 for $430 (free shipping no tax). Which is the better deal?

I have a G9, love it, but you should go with G10!

I have a G9 and am very happy with it, but if I were in your position I'd cough up the extra 55 bucks without hesitation and get the G10

Go with the 10. My G10 gives me crisper and cleaner pix than my G9. Also, the wider angle lens and top-of-camera exposure comp dial should seal the deal.

B&H also has the G10 at the same deal as Amazon for those like me that have to pay tax at Amazon (I live in WA). http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/583955-REG/Canon_2663B001_PowerShot_G10_Digital_Camera.html

I'm sticking with my G9, and I have no regrets. If I did not already have the G9, I probably would go with the G10, because it's the "next best thing" today.

I just bought a G10 here in ON for 360$US plus 13% taxes (GST & PST). They also had an open box G9 but it wasn't much cheaper. The G10 feels nice in the hand with the builtin grip.

I own a G9 and would not even consider a change to the G10. This stems from the change in focal lengths. I prefer the 210mm equivalent (6x zoom) on the G9. The G10's shorter but wider capable lens is of no interest to me.

For pure IQ which camera is better forgetting focal length differences?

You may want to read the DPR review of the G10 (if you haven't already). It found some improvements in IQ for the G10 over the G9. Other, reviews I've read suggest the G9 is a little better or equal in some cases.

I dunno... I just snatched up 3 used G9s for christmas gifts. I suspect that the G10 isn't that huge of an improvement over the G9. If I were to buy a new one today, I'd get the G9 over the G10.

If several images from each were shown to any group of people, I would bet that no one could tell which images came from which camera.

I have both the G9 and the G10.... so far I would have to say that in RAW the images are quite a bit better than the 9 though I do miss the longer throw of the G9.

I just bought a g10 today from Dell.....
They had a coupon code which brought the price down to $389
I wasn't even in the market for a new camera, but I've always liked the canon g series stuff and jumped on what I thought to be a good deal.

Good luck
Donald

I have the G9, and I very rarely use the zoom, and almost never to the 210mm. I usually try to move myself closer when possible, because I fear that the zoom will degrade the IQ.

Is this a fear that is substantiated by fact or am I worrying about the IQ on zooms needlessly?

As you have the G9, why not just try it and see if you're happy with the results? That's the only test that really counts anyway!

Where's this coupon you speak of if you don't mind me asking? Still valid?

Well, to my untrained eye, there is a degradation of the image. Just wanted to know what others thought. : )

Sorry, but the coupon expired the day I used it.....
I found it while browsing through www.deals2buy.com
They collect "good deals" from all over the internet and show them in one website. Sometimes they show some good deals.
