I came across the Pentax 6x7 Medium format system while wandering the net tonight. Very affordable! Has anyone used this, and have any feedback?

It's not like I can afford it- but I DO dream of becoming a medium format user one day....lol

This is a great system for field work, macro and action in the MF format. I have used it extensivley, my fav for Air to Air work!!

The metering prisim is to die for if you get this kit. Along with that If memory serves me the system also uses a focal plane shutter so it does limit shutter speeds in studio.

The Pentax Takumar lenses are top notch all very bright. Those are some of the plusses now for the negatives.

Sound, while I like it very much it does sound like a 12 ga shotgun being cycled - it is loud.
Weight - yup it weighs a ton
120/220 switch - this has a tendancy to break it has been sometime since I've used one but just reember that if you switch it incorrectly it will break and has to be repaired by a tech.
Lenses - these are both good and bad, theose huge elements are often ripe with fungus, lubes and can have gummy apertures in them if used in extreme temp ranges, so check them carefully. Bring along a strong flashlight so that you can see all the elements in guts inside.

Overall this is great kit, and can be had for pennies on what it used to be worth. If you can have it checked by a good MF tech prior to purchase, unless the deal cannot be ignored. But you will want a good CLaC before loading up with 120 and shooting about like a madman!!

Oh BTW see if you can get the side handle for the camera it is made of wood and steel and makes the camera uch better to hand hold!!
