View Full Version : How much do you sell news photographs for?

I'm trying to get a feel for how much people actually earn for their news photographs. I recently sold a photo of local interest and only got NZ$80 (US$55 or so) for it, so you definitely couldn't earn a living doing that. What would people expect to get for the following?

US$ is probably easiest for most people, i'm talking ballpark figures here.

Local interest photo (eg fire burns down xyz, or about a local person):
National interest photo:
National controversy photo:
International Interest:
International controversy photo (eg time mag cover):
Striking photo in a war zone:

Thanks RFM, looks like the newspaper here pays way under what's normal compared with what that tool says. Do the numbers that tools produces look reasonable to you?
