I am trying to work a trade for my SCT 8 for a Skywatcher 100 with manual EQ mount. SHe bought it in 2006. She said its ED but dosent seem to know much else about it. SHe said it was a "production model" I thought she meant Pro but she said no. Anyone know anthing else about this scope ? I want to use it to get more active in astrophotography. i know I ll need a better mount. Its the blue one in the pic.

I'm sure the optics are well corrected but if you are hoping to do deep sky imaging the focal ratio is less than ideal at f/10.

A focal reducer will help but I don't expect you'll be able to get much below f/7. At 1000mm focal length and f/7ish you'll most definitely need a very accurate mount and/or a second scope and guider.

It would probably make a nice Lunar and planetary scope. Here's a review on the 100ED at Cloudy Nights:
