Does anyone know what the flash duration of the Elinchrom Ranger heads is at different power settings? Preferably both for the S and the A heads, but I'll take anything! All Elinchrom publishes is shortest flash duration, but I'd like to know how that varies at different powers.

From B&H http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/246884-REG/Elinchrom_EL_20101_Ranger_Free_Lite_A.html#feature s:
"A" heads have a duration up to 1/3250 second while the "S" heads have a duraton up to 1/1600 second.

Can't remember which one but the S head has pretty much the same full-power duration as one of the RXs and uses the same flashtube - if you can find out which one and get its spec sheet, that should give you a rough idea (better than nothing).

The flash duration of those heads would depend on what pack they're hooked up to. The specs for the different packs give you the full power and sometimes the half power flash durations for specific heads but that's about all. And because the durations do not necessarily vary linearly with a decrease in power, it'll be hard to determine the durations at other power levels short of making an educated (and maybe wrong) guess or taking actual flash duration measurements.

Pacace is exactly correct.
The A and S head makes a difference, but so does the pack and even which port the head is plugged into on the pack with the AS Speed pack.

I understand all that folks, my question is - does anyone have any data on how the flash duration varies as the power is changed? Elinchrom publishes shortest flash durations at t0.5, I want to know how they change as you change the power.
It's not like there's a multitude of packs - there the three Ranger RX packs, two symmetrical, one asymmetrical. If it will make it any easier, if anyone has the date for the Ranger RX Speed AS pack, which is the one I have, let's have 'em! :)
