I know it's another moon shot, but I figure I should start with something relatively easy until I am more familiar with hooking my camera up to my telescope.

Does the 400D have live view, as with the view magnified, I found it to be invaluable in getting the best focus.

Very nice image, I love the tonality of the mare's and the cripsness of the southern highlands. That's the kind of image I was / still am hoping hoping to achieve.
I've just given my new scope it's first run out and came up with this. 40D + Williams Optics ZS66 + 0.8 Flattener III. I'm still struggling with my focusing a bit, despite using live view! I think I may have also been a little over the top with my sharpening

It's fun trying to get it right though, isn't it?

Excellent shot. No, the 400D does not have live view.

Never apologize for taking pictures of the moon. We're lucky to have such a nice one to image.
Besides, we all have to start somewhere. I began taking pictures of the moon through my telescope but, since then, have moved on to the neighbors. :D

Celestron - I have sure thought about it! I own acreage in a fairly remote and unpopulated area of Arkansas (Madison County). If you've seen "Deliverance" then you get the idea. It's a great dark sky location. Maybe someday I'll take the plunge, it sure looks like fun. I love some of the deep-sky images I see here in POTN.

You need to try for M42 the Orion Neb before its' too late . Also if you stay up late at night then early morning hrs Saturn is up and it's edge on and would only need like 10-15secs shots at ISO 200-400 . Also the Flame and HorseHead neb are in Orion and are great targets !
