To be honest with you I really have zero confidence at this point in my work. I just started and I like some of the stuff I shoot but I really dont know if it's acceptable or not. I'm glad you liked it.. Blessings.. If you guys want to see some more revealing shots from the shoot let me know and I will post 1 or 2

I could do that for sure. But, for her purposes I wont be needing to. See, her big goal is to get on the hooters calender. She payed me to take pics that would land her the job. If she is happy I am happy. I didnt do any cropping on the pic, just did an auto levels in photoshop..

Look at her neck on the first pic. Try to avoid such wrinkled neck...
the rest is almost ok ...

What lens did you use?

The outside shots I used my 100-200 canon zoom. It's old school from the late 70's it doesnt have manual focus. The inside shots I used the 18-55 kit lens with the rebel. I wouldnt consider myself a pro photographer at all. I know my compostion needs tons of work. I'm just happy to get some shots that are look nice at this point. I will expect allot more from myself a year from now. Thanks for all the feedback. Some of the things like the wrinkled neck are things that cant be avoided at this point of my learning. I way more involved with exposure right now to get compostion and things like that perfect..

I like the top shot but might crop it down a bit. Focus on bust and face. She is lovely and you did a very nice job! Shoot her again and send some more.

I really like the 2nd picture. The only problem I had with it was that shadow on her leg. Very nice though.

What lighting did you use? I'm trying to figure it out for myself.

believe it or not that kind words have really made me feel good about working on getting better at this. I tend to be very hard on myself. It has been a trait that has suited me well over the years because I have done better then expected. I was a touring musician for many years signed to a major label. This was the attitude I had with my music as well. I'm hoping someday to be a versatile and working photographer.

Blessings and good luck to all you shutterbugs out there

What lighting did you use? I'm trying to figure it out for myself.

Outside I was just using natural lighting. Inside, We had some soft boxes that we borrowed from a tv station .. My buddy works as a producer so we can get their lights on occasion. To be honest, I'm not sure what brand they where. We had two soft boxes and one overhead spot. We dont really know what we are doing with lights but we are learning. I didnt use a flash for any of the photos. I think the 100-200mm zoom lens did well for me outside. I was about 20 feet away for most of the shots at about a 100 setting I believe. I could be wrong about that. I can always check my settings in one of the programs.

Pic 3 is by far the best I think. I wish that light blue thing wasnt there, the red background, what she is laying on with the dark blue pillows looks so great.
Good work.
OMG If I could land a hooters shoot... panting..

Once again I agree. There are some major problems when it comes to composition in these shots. From, colors to scenery... But, to be honest, this was my first proffesional gig and I was more worried about exposure if the truth be told. At this time, I have a better grasp of exposure as well as a more capable camera in the 20D .. Maybe for my next shoot I can make a few improvements. Thanks for everyone looking! I didnt put these on there with the intention of the eye candy factor believe it or not.. LOL

I think that your collection of pics posted here shows something of the "character" of the model (expressions, poses, her face), and that was something that struck me particularly.

If you're trying to promote yourself as Mr Photographer here... maybe one or two or three things could do with fine tuning.

As a shoot to promote the model herself, I think you did a good job. Nice one!

they are good shots, but there is room for improvment on them.

first shot - her ribs are slightly over-exposed and more "white" and light then her face - drawing attention away from her face to her side

2nd photo - great pose, great location but horrible shadow on her leg

3rd - her legs are overexposed in comparison to her face

4th - her face is underexposed in comparison to the hammock in the foreground

Thanks for everyones compliments and comments. I'm not on here to promote myself as a photographer at all. I'm here to share a shoot I did with my fellow shooters. I'm not a proffesional and I dont think that I should even be considered a good photographer yet. I know areas are overexposed and the things arent perfect. You know it's hard on your first shoot to expose everything just right when you are just learning exposure to begin with. But, all of your comments will hopefully make me better in the future. I didnt post the pictures with hopes of wonderful comments that is to be certain. I posted these so everyone out there can see that even a amatuer such as myself can make money and make someone happy with the pictures they take. She ended up making it for Miss December so I guess I did my job well enough

What's not to like! I haven't seen the leather couch or that particular outfit at a Hooters in my neighborhood. I'll take 50 wings, some fries, onion rings and the chance to shoot your model!

What wall?

Seriously though, you have avery attractive model to work with. I would like to see some shots of her in which her eyes are more prominent in the composition. She has beautiful eyes. Nice work.

WOW

I really love #2 and #6.
They are great pictures, IMO.
She is a good model with good expressions, IMHO.
Her curves aren't half bad, either

Best regards,
Andy

In what mind frame are you thinking?
Do you find her attractive?

I think you did ok for the first time out. I dunno if you should really charge her though, but maybe do more of a trade of services. You give her the ones you are happy with, and she gets to use them, while you get to add to your portfolio.

With more practice you will do much better. I have learned this from reading for 4 months about portrait work. You should try also useing her legs, and arms as leading elements. Don't cut her nails out either, she has a nice french manucre(sp), and you want to show that off. Her eyes seem to be her hot spot to.. Very sexy..So focus a bit on those also.

You may have to let you attraction to her run wild, almost to the point of infatuating yourself with her, and be very very picky to watch out for a lot of the stuff mentioned in the previous posts, suck as .. cropping her nails out, background, the olive wall & brown couch, compusure, use of leading elements, her key features, wrinkles in her kneck, proper exposure..

Needless to say, I think you did good for the first time out.. Keep on shooting, and enjoy.

She wanted to pay! I'm not into her at all guys, I'm happily married to this women pictured here. the pictures taken of my wife were taken with a 1.3 megapixel olympus D-460Z She is even more beautiful the the hooters waitress! If you are wondering why her feet are so big in the picture it is because I dig her feet!

Hey, I cant help it that my beautiful aunt made me rub her feet when I was a kid !! I did it all the time when she came home from her day as a nurse. I woke up one day in my late teens realizing I more then apreciated female legs and feet.. LOL...

Thats funny Pra! Nah I'm not gary Oldman. I dont know much about him to be honest... I have been blessed with beautiful women in my life for some reason. I was a touring musician most of my life. My manager was named Elliot Cahn, the same guy that managed and helped break Green Day and Papa Roach. So you how it goes, being a singer in a band I had my share of out of this world women. In case you are interested here is a link to my music site, it's just stripped down acoustic stuff but it gives you a good idea about my background. I hope you dig it....

Nothing wrong with that.

I tell you though, I am always impressed with Olympus images.. No matter what the megapixel are they tend to come out great. Yeah your wife does look better than the hooters girl, maybe you should shoot her instead lol ...

I think the backdrops are a bit busy in quite a few of the otherwise better ones.
The "bed/panties" picture (it should be clear which one I mean) is very nice in particular but too busy. The rusty red sheet or whatever works really well but there's too much clutter at the top of the pic - maybe one or two cushions in a carefully chosen colour would do it.
The first pic (leather sofa) - better framing and darker background would help, and maybe a bit more "modeling" shadow...

I think it's a fine start! Well done! Tiny tiny criticsm, you've chopped a little slice of the top of her head...but only a minute amount.
