Bit of levels adjustment to expose that foreground again.

Just shows what a lil camera can do !
Location is Fort smith, NWT, slave river. Currently being researched by university of alberta for why it is one of the most potent aurora-seeker locations in the americas.

I mean no offense here and maybe this is a problem with my monitor, but all I see is an out of focus shot with no foreground. The foreground is all black.

I think it might be your monitor that needs calibrating, try this :

Like Bowtie', I too do not see any foreground in the photo and my setup is calibrated.

My monitor is calibrated, and I can barely make out the foreground in this shot. Perhaps if you posted a larger image -- you're allowed 1024 px in the longest dimension.

I see foreground. It's dark, but it's there.

It's not "Blurry",
You can see at the bottom that there's focused land & water.
Northern lights are just sort of soft like that.
Great shots, Kajuah.

I am amazed what the Powershot can do.
Now you can go out and try the same with your new 50D and you will be amazed ;)

Keep it original and it will look fine . Too much PP can loose detail in astronomy images .
