Hi everyone,

I'm new here. Man, I'm so glad I found this forum! It is bustling with activity around here. I hope that someone would be able to help me, as I've been struggling with this problem for almost 2 years now. I have lost my ZoomBrowser v.2.6.0 CD for my Powershot A10 (yeah, yeah I know. I feel like such a dinosaur). I've been using my A10 for almost 5 years now (can't afford to get a new one yet).

I've been searching the archives for answers to my question, and so far, I've come up with a "you have to contact Canon to give you a replacement CD for a price". Seems there are no sites to download it from anyway. I already tried downloading utw390.exe from the Canon site, and of course, it didn't help. It's just sitting in my system smiling at me.

My other computer has the correctly installed ZoomBrowser version for my A10, but this other one doesn't, which makes life a little difficult for me. :) Some very kind soul from another site sent me his CD, but unfortunately, it was a version 2.4. which didn't support my model. Maybe there's a kind soul here who just upgraded to another model and has the exact CD I'm looking for, just collecting dust. I'd appreciate it very much!

Thanks,
AcidJazz

Unfortunately, getting Canon to send you a new CD is the most reliable method. All they have for download is an upgrade package. I really don't know why they do this, since it's not as if anyone else would be able to use the stuff on another camera.

Thanks for replying, Jon. Yeah, I think that is sooo unnecessary for them to do that (but of course, there'll be more money in their pockets, so I see what they're up to  ). I don't even think they still manufacture the CD, since there are a lot of other better digicam models out there. Are there a lot of guys here successful in replacing their lost CD's thru Canon?

You're best solution is to install ZoomBrowser 2.4 if that's what you have on the CD. Then download the latest version of ZoomBrowser (V4.6) from the Canon web site:

http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=320&modelid=8021

Click on "Drivers/Software" and just navigate your way to the ZoomBrowser download page.

BTW, while you're at it, download the firmware update and the updates to the other Canon software if yours in not up-to-date.

Dude, why not install the driver that you downloaded, and use Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard (Win ME or XP) or Imaging (Win98/2000) to download your images?

Thanks for your replies. I'm going to try all your great suggestions and update you on any success I may have. Really appreciate your input. By the way, Byte, I will only know if v4.1 will work if it supports powershot A10. My original (now lost) CD was for a v2.6.0, so I don't know any other versions that my digicam will work on.
Thanks again, guys!

PacAce,

I tried your suggestion, and I've been trying to get it to work for a couple of days now. It seems to recognize that there's a camera connected to the USB, but the "Camera Window" icon will just flash once in the taskbar, and then disappear. I've tried everything I could do like to set it to recognize the camera automatically, both in the CameraWindow and ZoomBrowser itself, but nothing. I keep getting the message "There are no images in the camera or camera folder" when I click on "Browse & Download Images" in ZoomBrowser.

And of course, the cable IS connected to the camera, so what am I doing wrong? ???

JohnnyE,

I installed the driver too, but there aren't any options in Imaging [Win98] that I can use to download the images from my camera. I already did what I can with the "Scanners and Camera Wizard" and selecting "Imaging" as the software to download to. It still won't work. Any suggestion on how I can go about it?

Thanks guys!

If there's anyone out here who can suggest anything that I can do to solve this problem, I'd appreciate it very much. :)
