Is there a difference or are they interchangable? what difference if any is there?

SD cards can be used in either SD or SDHC devices. SDHC cards can only be used in SDHC devices. The design standard for SD cards restricts them to 2 GB maximum size, while SDHC cards are larger than 2 GB in capacity.

I just wanted to stress this point. This means that if you have an older digital camera, it likely cannot accept SDHC cards. It also means that if you have an older card reader, it likely will not be able to read an SDHC card. My wife's laptop has a card reader built in that cannot read SDHC cards, and its only a bit over a year old. Some of my old card readers also can't read SDHC cards.
