my HD is filling up.
is there a easy way to view all the files on your pc that aren't associated with a program so i can see what i need to move or delete?
IS there some common filler on here I can delete?

what do you mean "not associated with a program?. Technically all files are associated with some program or they would not exist.
What OS are you running? If you are running Windows, you can always use the "Disk Cleanup" tool that will search your hard drive and look for files that it thinks you can archive/delete.

There is a good tool called TreeSize that allows you to view folder structures and their associated sizes. It often helps to show you where most of your space is being used.
However, if you are not ABSOLUTELY sure about what you are doing, take the advice above and just use the build in Disk Cleanup tool. Many files that are not associated with a specific program are system files and you delete those at your peril :-)

I'm running xp sp2.
I have about 108 gb hard drive that is nearly full. I know about 38gb is photos that I am slowly moving to externals. What I'm trying to figure out is what is taking up the rest of the space.
I have noticed one thing, with light room for example, i have folders for LR 1, LR 2 and now LR 2.2. same with dozens other programs. can i go in a delete the earlier versions?
I've run the xp disk clean up and I have program called iolo that looks for stuff to clean and together the free up tidbit of space here and there. I'm looking for a way to know what is using 65gb of space.
thanks

108GB isn't very much, you should consider getting another hard drive, storage is cheap these days.

good point. Looking at picking up a 1 TB internal. that should solve a lot of problems.
