View Full Version : WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK: PART 142 -- Stacks
BLS
8th of December 2008 (Mon), 06:45
Every week we select a new theme to shoot. The theme for this week is "Stacks." Be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme -- the sky's the limit!
Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between sunrise Monday and sunset the following Sunday. Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snap shots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e.,embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=194511 (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=194511)
An index to previous weeks can be found here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=170603 (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=170603)
That's it! Have fun!

Yoby -- What are these?
At first I thought they were candies similar to M&M's.
Then I thought the black ones looked a bit like charcoal briquettes for grilling.
Then I clicked on your link and thought they must be game pieces.
So I give up.
What are they????

:D
These are SLATE AND SHELL GO STONES... So yeah is like Charcoal, So in a way you could say they look like Candy. The white pieces are made up of SHELL from CLAMS, while the black ones from SLATE (the same material of the black boards)...
GO is a Ancient Chinese strategy game which is based on territory (older than chess)

These stacks are a common sight around here.
They slowly disappear over the winter as the bales get used.

BLS, That photo is neat... One word if I may " why don't you get closer to the blocks" I will love to see the texture, maybe squat down and shoot from an angle?
Regards,
Pete

Of course you may!
Funny you should say that.
A few years ago I was really into close-ups.
Now I'm really into wide angle.
I wonder what will be next.
Just hope that whatever it is, the new lens isn't too expensive.:D

LOL... well you could have done the wide angle differently... Why don't you take it from the corner of the stacks so the stack line goes across the frame in a diagonal?

Some might say that the best way to use a wide-angle lens is really close up! :D

Okay, the new theme is "sweet" or "junk".
Shoot one or both, your choice.
