I feel for you too. Hope your fiancée likes the ring. The best thing about selling the 5D is that it opens for you with the opportunity to buy the 5D M2

engagement ring ..lol
Been there, done that.... lol
Not a 5D, but a 20D with a 70-200 f/2.8 a while back
Best of luck to ya! :)

This is a bit like going from a Corvette to a Huffy ten-speed bike. Except that in my example, the end result is the same: Both can get you to a given destination. In the 5D-to-G10 equation, the end result is simply not the same.
If the G10 serves your needs adequately, you probably didn't really need that 5D to begin with. ;)

i think i have only legitimately "upgraded" once in my time as a photographer and that was from 40D to the 1D Mark III but i honestly feel every camera change i went through was the result of my change in subject. to me, each camera i went through fit my needs perfectly for the time had.
5D with the intended use for landscape and wide angle shooting.
40D with the change in direction towards macrophotography with LV and 100% VF coverage.
1D Mark III for live performances, weddings, wildlife, and high DR landscapes with dual processing.
Leica D-LUX 4 for candids, street photography, urban and fine art with "red dot satisfaction." :)so i have to say, congrats on securing a knot with your lady and it's wonderful to hear that you have no remorse in what some would consider a "downgrade." i must agree with everyone on one thing though...
put the G10's macro mode to good use and get a shot of that solitaire on her hand. :D

I see a lot of congratulations but he never said if she said yes!
Sorry you had to make that kind of drastic move. I hope she understands how special she is. :)
