Trying to create an avatar for myself. I've resized it to be 73 x 80 pixels. I've saved it in CS under the "0" level for .jpg quality and the darn thing is still 15.2 kb.
How can I make the file size smaller without sacraficing the actual size of the avatar? This is the MOST restrictive avi size I've ever seen for a vbulletin site!

Well... kinda figured it out. Used CS to "Save for web". It converted it to a 256 color .gif that is only 5k large. It works, but it kinda loses that blue POP from the original picture. Any other ideas?

Just a guess. You might try cranking up the saturation in the blue channel in the original image and then save it as before. (Hopefully you can tell I don't really know the answer and am only guessing.:o)

Image... Convert to Profile... sRGB.
Then Save For Web as JPG.

Yup, when you use the regular "Save As" command for a Jpg, photoshop puts a bunch of other info in the jpg file (like ICC profile) that causes the file size to balloon.

Does anyone know if there is a save for web command in Paint Shop Pro? I cannot find it.
Thanks,
Julie

Jemmind, I just created a tutorial for creating an Avatar in both PS and PSP. It covers the PSP version of Save For Web.
