I purchased a 40D. I wanted to know if the book that comes with the camera is good or do you recommend a different book?
Thanks

It will tell you the basics. I have not read any other books for the 40D. I would recommened the book below. It is not specifically for the 40D but it is a great book and cheap on Amazon.

Sort of depends on how much you know about photography, and digital photography, already. If you just need to learn the camera, read the manual multiple times. If you need help on other topics, check the Photography Books (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=53846) sticky.

Have a look at the "Canon EOS 40D Guide to Digital Photography" by David D. Busch Much easier to read than the manual.
Enjoy you new camera

+1 on the above guide. My wife bought me that for Xmas last year.

I NEVER cracked the manual to either my 40D or Xsi. Only thing I couldn't figure out with the Xsi was how to activate LiveView autofocus...(I used Google for that!)
