Got invited to cover a indoor Motorcycle Ice Race up in Flint Micihgan over the weekend.
Talk about some wild action!!:D Think 4-5 guys wide on a hockey rink with the throttle pinned the entire time

One and two are my favorites. Nice job with the tough lighting. An interesting sport to shoot and watch for sure.

Thanks for the comments. The lighting was horrendous and I was fumbling with that all night long
Like I said, first time shooting it, and couldnt figure out which setting to use as a white balance? THey had a mix of florescent and incadesent overheads.
I didnt want to shoot raw as it slows the camera down, and would make it hell to correct 300 images:( When ever I shoot these type of events, I post almost all of them in the gallery, then look a few weeks later to see which ones havent been viewed and just go back through to delete the ones they arent looking at or buying.
Many times when I go delete ones that I think arent up to my par, I get a rider asking for that very shot?
Thanks for looking

Wow, that is just wild and I bet a ton of fun. Nice shots, I really like #2 as you can see the rider's eyes looking up ahead and almost feel the concentration.

Yeah, the one with the eyes is one of my fav's. You can see the determination to win

That's way cool! Bit hard to tell from your awsome pics, do they run studded tires, or just enjoy bulk wheelspin?

I talked with the riders in the pits asking them what it was like and how good the tires hooked up being studded as much as they are, and one rider told me "It's crazy because you get so much traction, unlike riding on dirt or asphalt, that you have to teach yourself how to feather the throttle different than you normally would while riding flat track"

Rider coming out of a turn, and not feathering the throttle correctly:D

These studs is also why you see those aftermarket fenders that cover most of the tire. In the gallery, you can see one shot where the front wheel of a rider is climbing onto the back of another riders boot while they're trying to pass one another.
This was some crazy racing, and way wild to try and photograph.
For any photographers in the Michigan area, there is going to be another race in Flint at the Perina Areana on January 24th!
