Christmas lights

With Christmas lights and decorations appearing everywhere now, has anyone got any hints or tips on how to take good outdoor shots of these lights, displays or Christmas trees? Is there one setting on the A40 that needs to be changed or do you have to change a number of them? What about taking pictures in a shopping mall, set the WB to tungsten?

1. Use a tripod
2. Turn off flash
3. ISO 50
4. If not satisfied with Auto results, manully adjust exposure time.
