This is my pet rat, Whinnie "the roo" aka Whinnie woo or Whinnie wu.

She's very "wutastic". She's nearly a year old now, and is still a loveable, beautiful baby girl. She got her nickname because she hops around on my bed like a Kangaroo (and also she was named by the original care after Whinnie the pooh - pooh and roo and wu all rhyme of course!).

She has 3 'sisters' - Buffy, Rosie & Daisy. All of them are absolutely adorable :)

Dave

PS they're not spoilt, honest guv!

They are, but try educating people that. When I moved back home with the parents, my mum wouldn't touch the rats. Now, she can't get enough of them. They're smart, very clean, very affectionate, cute, inquisitive and mischievious. They're a lot like mini dogs, but only smarter (yes, smarter!). They don't carry diseases. Yes, they do have short lifespans (18 months to 3 years typically), but they give lotsa love their entire lives.

Agreed! I had one for 2 years until it died of a tumor. He'd follow me around the house, lick me, cuddle, the whole 9 yards. I'd love to have one again eventually.

She's eating vanilla rice custard (one of her favourites). She also goes crazy over pureed pumpkin and sweetcorn (baby food). They get a mixture of fresh vegies and meat daily, as well as grains.

Yola - I have a funny story to relate. When I lived in Sydney, one of my original girls (about 7 years ago now) named Lulu was out and about on my bed. I carefully let Monty, our dog in (X german shepherd, kelpie) cos he was desparate to check them out. He came up very cautiously to the bed and sniffed Lulu. She came right up to him, not scared an ounce and let him have it (donged him right on the nose with her claws). He sort of jumped in the air, and if he could talk he probably would have said "hey, you're not meant to do that!!!". After a few seconds, he was brave enough to try and sniff her again. The result? Another good ole fashion donging, and me on the floor in stitches. After that, he wasn't keen on the rats ;-) If I bought them out, he'd always do this funny head tilt which was hilarious.
