Do you lose data when converting a RAW to a TIFF file ?

No. TIFF is lossless, unlike JPEG where you lose a lot of data

Sort of :)
The RAW file has to be converted to some image format in order to be viewed. As part of the choices made in that conversion, a little data is lost, but that's true regardless of the format in which you save the image. If you save it as a TIFF, no further data is lost, which makes it one of the best choices if that's your goal. In other words - TIFF is as good as it gets if you want an image that can actually be viewed!
As long as you don't delete the RAW file, you haven't lost that original data - you can always go back and convert it again with a different set of choices in your processing.

Wonderful ! I knew I could count on the British Commonwealth. I'll be saving my RAW and converting to TIFF :-)
