I've been into photography off and on for the past decade and have recently picked it back up with new vigor. I've also been playing drums off and on the last 15 years, but only seriously the last 4 or so in my band Stench of Lies...

Here's my other setup: Yamaha Custom Advantage 4 piece, with Zildjian Z Custom & Custom A cymbals, Yamaha Double Kick Pedals...

Parenting. IF I have any free time after that, I like to sew, knit, crochet, read....and then if there's any time free after THAT, I love riding horses.

Now that's truly fascinating! How cool to know your roots like that.

Now that's truly fascinating! How cool to know your roots like that. It's taken a lot of work (five years or so) and there are still a lot of gaps in what I know, but compared to what I thought I would find when I started? Wow. (I'm first generation American on my father's side and what my mother wrote in my baby book -- that her grandparents were born in Ireland and Wales -- made me think her family came over after the Civil War. Turns out the only way her grandparents were born in Ireland and Wales would be if those were towns in Mississippi, which is where they WERE born, of Irish and Welsh descent!) The farthest back I've gotten is Nicholas Gentry, whose wages as a colonial militiaman were garnished by the York County VA court in 1680.

Writing...

Writer's block is the worst, though. It's like a never-ending wall of self-doubt. I wouldn't call myself an author, but I do have ideas that kick around my head, usually around midday and try to scribble as much as I can in a notebook or on my computer. I try to read as much as I can. Not too long ago I starting subscribing to Newsweek and National Geographic, with the latter my fave (and something to look forward to when I visit my doctor). Some folks say I should dump Newsweek for The Economist, but I'm enjoying the mix of commentary, current events, and blog topics. The "My Turn" column is always fascinating. I try, or at least think about exercising as well  I have a cousin who's an Ironman triathlete, so that's encouraging.

I play with expensive electric trains. Sound/Lights/Smoke!

It offers quite a variety of aspects: Electronics, history, model building, carpentry, composition, photography (go figure).

Pretty wide variety of hobbies here! s8langwo I'd love to see some photos of your setup. I was amazed a few years ago to see a very intricate and realistic setup. Very cool hobby.

I'm going to have to let my nerdiness shine and say board games with friends.

Games like Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Agricola, Power Grid, Race for the Galaxy and El Grande if that means anything to anyone.
