FAO Anders - Did you take these in RAW or JPEG ?
Or does'nt it matter seeing that your using the Daddy of all Canons ;)
(colour wise that is)
Oh and your shot of the blue tit looks fantastic as my Desktop image  (hope you dont mind :o )

Thanks!
Alan, I've switched to RAW for all I do, the advantages in terms of exposure and white balance control is just too big too not do this IMHO. I don't shoot masses of pictures so I can take the job of converting.
Re. desktop image - be my guest! :)

Yeah i'm thinking of doing the same.I'm getting to hate the quality of the colours in jpeg.Even after setting the custum WB.
Took some test shots today in RAW(first time) and the quality were far superier over the jpeg ones.

Fabulous photos. I really want one of those. Hmmm, if I save 25U$ every week by brown bagging my lunch, it will only take me 4.2 years to save for it. LOL!

Just one more... got the female Eurasian Bullfinch today, background not as nice, and as it was quite overcast the quality is not up there with the others. I haven't photographed this bird before though so I'll take it. :)

What everyone else said!
I was wandering around & stumbled across these, & think they deserve a <bump>. ;)

Canon should appoint someone to bump this thread on a regular basis. It would be a cheap and effective way to sell a few of the 500 /4's. Outstanding results from Frets skills also.
What junk can I dig up to sell on Ebay this weekend to buy this lens will be going through my mind now.:)

Amazing shots, your lens was well worth the cost. All are great, however, I am partial to the bullfinch.

I like the blue tit, but my favorite is the blackbird, the detail in the brest feathers is cracking.

Thanks again guys! :)
CDS, in some details I might have improved a little bit in the year that has gone but for the most part I'm disappointingly enough pretty much in the same spot... more gear but the same pictures... I haven't really topped these pictures yet, and someone brought back a two year old ice hockey thread in another forum and I was kind of shocked to see how little I've developed :(
Time to get focussed and concentrate...

I seem to recall some flight shots,. (chickadee's maybe?) that simply blew me away.. but perhaps I'm confused on the dates. I'm sure I['e seen some remarkeable shots at any rate! :)
Thanks again guys! :)
