Hi all, this was taken a while back, but have been hesitant to put it up after seeing of these spectacular moon shots and telescope setups. I figured the only way to get better at shooting the moon is to hear what others have to say, especially the experienced bunch in this section!

Here goes,

Taken with 100-400L @ 400mm handheld in my backyard.

This is really nice shot. Very sharp and the exposure seems right on. Most beginners trust the camera for exposure settings too much and end up way overexposed, but this is about as good as they get without a telescope.

I knew my shutter speed was going to have t be fast if I was hand holding a 400mm x 1.6 @ f/5.6 so I tried to adjust accordingly.

Thanks greatly for the compliment!

Wow, these 100-400L lenses with an extender really are superb. Such excellent sharpness, and you really did get the settings spot on. Thumbs up.

Thanks. This is purely the 100-400L, no extender used. I've been contemplating getting one, but as I usually do photography that requires panning with this lens, the manual focus would kill me.

Its a great shot and very sharp . It's hard to believe so many are taking these type shots handhelt with this lens and not have at least the slightest amount of motion detected for a long lens . I know it's a great lens but still hard to believe .
