I did a search but couldn't find any topics related to this so I'm hoping someone can provide some thoughts on this. I'm considering sending my Tamron 70-300mm LD 1:2 lens in for service. The lens works great until I switch to manual focus. For some reason, in MF the motor still tries to focus. Although the mechanism is disconnected (must be a mechanical switch) I can hear the motor run when the shutter is pressed halfway.
Has anyone run into a similar issue? I'm hoping against all odds that there is a simple solution to this so if you have any thoughts please let me know. The lens is only 2 months old so warranty service shouldn't be a problem. However, if there is any way I can avoid that process (which I'm guessing will take 4-6 weeks before I get it back) I'd love to hear about it. Right now the problem doesn't seem to be causing any real issues but I'm concerned about motor wear and perhaps future issues with the focus mechanism.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
