Off- Camera Flash?

I have a 580 EX and a 430 EX....I want to do some night portraits with my 580 off my camera...how do I ignite the flash?

I would suggest you use the 430EX and fire it with the 580EX on camera via ETTL.

You can turn off the 580EX flash.
