For those of us who just bought one... damn it!

Looks like I will be upgrading my G10 in around 2 years / most likely less...

You could always go back to the Minolta 110 that had interchangeable lenses... ;)

They'd better sell a lot of those, or else it's a lot of of money poured into a new lens system for nothing...without backwards compatibility with existing 4/3 lenses, I sense doom for this.

That's actually "old" news. You'll notice the publish date was back in August.

There is an adaptor to make all 4/3rds lenses mountable on mini-4/3rds cameras.

It seems you folks aren't aware that the micro-4/3 system is up, and running, and has been for some time . . . in the form of the Panasonic G1, and it's going down rather well. Not only is there an adaptor for 4/3rds lenses, but adaptors which allow the use of other brands lenses as well.

The concept is great the problem is that the G1 isn't actually any smaller than an olympus 420. So we're not talking compact camera size here unfort

If current development continues, it'll be messed up by stuffing them with too many MP!

I saw this in a Ritz ad a couple weeks ago, the G1. Looks cool, but if it's the same size as an e420, I might go for a regular dslr instead.

If I need to carry lenses with my "compact" camera why not just carry the DSLR? This may be great for someone who wants something between a P&S and DSLR but owns neither.

I was in the market for a camera to carry when I didn't want to schlep around my DSLR. I looked at the G1, but it really isn't much smaller than the Olympus OM series slr cameras were. Definitely not a pocketable camera with the protruding zoom lens, so I went with the G10 instead.
