I have found many photoshop tutorial sites, but not any that focus on the purely the photography post-processing side from a beginner standpoint. I don't really need to turn my photos into cartoon characters or create magazine covers, just simple things at this point that programs like Picasa do with the touch of a button. Under and over-exposure problems, noise, softening, etc. Should I buy a book or are there good online tutorial sites?

Oops, just found the tutorials list (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=34606) here. If that's got the best resources, I may not need an answer to this.

Hi subnet_rx,
I HIGHLY recommend Scott Kelbys books. They are so informative, and best of all, you can download the images he works on, so you can do it exactly step by step as he says and get the same results.
The Scott Kelby Book: The 7 Point system book is a GREAT book. It focuses on 7 problem areas that photographers always will have to deal with and shows you how to change which settings in camera raw/photoshop and what photoshop can do to photos. There is 21 lessons to learn from and i have just finished going through them and i remember the 7 points off by heart now as they get drilled into your head as you progress through the book.
The other book i have of his, is Photoshop CS3 for digital photographers. This book is great, also can download all the images that he uses and works on, and is a lot bigger. This deals with every aspect of photography, from adding fake ND filters to photos, to sharpening, to portraiture work, to how to show your image and create collages.
Either way, you will always reference these books and they have the information in there. I highly recommend them, even if there are great tutorials online.
He has alot of other books also, not only for Photoshop CS3 users, but for lightroom, photoshop cs2 etc...
If you are a NEW user of photoshop and don't understand any of the tools or what they do, what layers do, what filters do etc.. You should also buy or look for tutorials which outline photoshop and what it is capable of.
I hope i have helped you:)

Thanks, I actually just bought Kelby's books on digital photography. He talks about his photoshop books in there. I guess I'll pick them up. I did like his style of teaching in the photography books.
