I was interested in purchasing the Epson 2200 wide-format inkjet for my G2. Does anybody know of an effective way to calibrate your monitor for optimum print results? I've read that this is a big issue. Thanks, Craig.

I can recommend the ColorVision Spyder + Photocal for calibrating your monitor. It works very well, though I initially had problems getting the Spyder to work on the standard USB ports of my machine (AMD processor and MSI motherboard). I installed a couple of extra USB ports with a Belkin PCI USB adapter and the Spyder works fine on that.

If you haven't seen this yet, there is a great article tha was published some time ago in Popular Photography magazine that talks about how to get good color out of your printer.

This happens to use an Epson 1270 in the examples. I just got an Epson 2200 last week and followed this article to set up my color path and HOLY CRAP!!! First, if you haven't seen the output of a 2200, do yourself a favor and check it out. If you don't tell people that you printed them yourself, they will not know that it is not a "real" photo. Second, the color is fantastic. I didn't use any measuring devices other than my eyes and the Adobe Gamma utility and the prints I get out of the printer look exactly like what is on the monitor.

Now, my only problem is deciding which paper is best. I've got some LumiJet on order, but the new Epson Archival Semigloss photo paper produces awesome results too.
