This may probably have been asked before so applogies if it has (I did a search first...honest!!)
I have over the past year been building up my arsenal of equipment with a view to providing photographic services to Mr Public within a few years or so. But just recently work in this field has taken quite an uplift without even advertising. Primarily I offer portrait work within my own studio (converted garage) in the clients own home or on location.
To start with it was just friends and family, then friends of friends etc and now getting calls from potential clients that I dont even know which is great.
I now want to create a website and use some of the previous images I have, although up to now I have not used model release forms, firstly I dont think it would be morally right just to put up images without first contacting the person but legally, would I need a signed release form from them to display images on a website and within portfolios.
Secondly, if I were to approach previous clients with this should I offer them an another image, say 10x8 free of charge or should I offer to offer them payment.
Whilst on this subject, I would appreciate advise on how to approach this with furture clients, most of the model release forms Ive seen required the photographer to offer payment to the client for this to be signed, again is this a legal/morrally acceptable method.
Sorry its a bit long winded but would appreciate any help offered on this
Many thanks
Andy
