Are there any clear 'plastic' type of coverings available to cover strobe light reflectors. For sports, I'm using Alien Bee B800s with the 11" reflector. I've seen some material that is thicker than cellophane and still clear. My goal is to avoid dust in environments like (horse) barrel racing, keep people from touching a bulb, and limit debris if a bulb breaks. Is this done or do I have an OC disorder? ;)

I had clear Lexan plastic cut into 11-1/4 " diameter to cover my stobes in case the flash bulbs break, this way it does not fall on the crowd below, I drilled a few holes in it to allows ventilation. I have a local place called House of Plastic that was able to cut this for me, just make sure the thickness is the .060 this will let 90-95% of the light through. Here is a web site.

Hope that help

Not OCD at all. Anyone using strobes in public places should cover them for safety reasons. It only takes one to burst and a child looking up at it to cause everyone a world of problems.

Anybody try the tough clear plastic wrap commonly used for gift baskets?

Have you felt the heat that comes of the strobe when it is fired? Plus I don't think you can drill holes into those. That plastic wrap I am sure will melt after a few shots.
