I have canon 40D and been contemplating on replacing my stock focus screen with a EF-D screen... Would it benefit me in making sure subjects are in place or it's not worth it? mostly I shoot people and still subjects... That's about it, this time I'll be nice and not be a jerk alcohol and keyboards don't mix up well :lol::lol:

It'll also aid in keeping horizons and verticals straight. I have one in my 5D; need to get one for the 1D3 actually. I did use them in my F-1s.

Absolutely! I have one in my 40D AND 5D and will have one in all my future cameras! Its very nice to have just as an added feature. Great for helping level your pictures and helpful for composing shots.

thanks! dudes and dudettes!! now I know how to spend my samys gc... I know that replacing focusing screen is easy on the 40D if i'm careful not to touch the sensor/mirror... now to the question how hard it is to avoid dust getting in the sensor/mirror, cause I see in videos when you replace the FS the camera is all wide open and mirrors exposed faced up...

If they don't do a 2-5 minute job for free, after purchasing it in their store, start taking your business elsewhere!

I too wouldn't let any shop monkey touch my gear. Even though they work in a camera shop, this doesn't mean they're technicians. Besides, if they damage your gear, are they willing to pay for the damages?

I'd suggested for your to swap it yourself. I've carefully swapped my screen out in about 10 minutes.

ok thanks! guys! reason I asked is because I'm looking to buy one for a trip to NYC and this is my first time going to NYC... While we are at it, question about lenses I sold my canon 10-22, and now left with a 28-135, I have a gift card form calumet photo and I intend to use it to rent lens for the trip so what lens do you guys think I should take with me? I'm not gonna shoot so much architecture, probably me and my fiancee with a tripod...

also I'm thinking of buying a flash what do you guys suggest? is 430EX II enough? I'm no pro but I want it to be compact yet decent when shooting at night... Thanks!
