I went south again today, getting out of the cold and snow again. This evening I was lucky enough to take in a Utah Jazz game vs. the Indiana Pacers. The Jazz took a thumping but it was worth it to see Reggie Miller in his last season. He has been a good player for the league and other than his mouth . . . a good example as well. I think basketball will miss him.
Anyway here is my first basketball game post. I turned the ISO up to 1600 and shot in AV, trying to keep the shutter speed over 250 as much as I could. A faster lens might have helped here but for what I had . . . I will not complain.

Pretty darn good...like seeing all those high ISO settings coming out so clear. Makes me feel brave enough to try myself.... (Go Jazz!!)

Well it was a scary thing . . . I am a ASA/ISO 50 shooter, when I can. But the word on the street here is that you can kick up the ISO and still get a workable print with a 20D. So who am I to argue with the Pro's here. I just did it and was excited to get back home, even in the cold and snow, to see what we got at the game. I am surprised, to say the least. I don't know how the rest of the forum will feel about them, but for using that slow 17-85 IS with no flash, indoors at a basketball game and getting anything, makes me happy.
I think I have some keepers as well. Here is one that I just spotted. I will have to look at the rest on the morrow. It is past my bed time . . . unlike Maureen whom is a night owl by occupation. Let me know what you guys think of the experiment.

Way cool RJ, the colors are good and the picture is nice and clear. I love the jump-action shot...and no blur!!!! Great! I shot some ISO at 800 yesterday (indoors of my grandson watching a movie) and they came out nice and clean. That is the highest ISO I've ever done...on to the next level.
