Hello All,
I did a quick and dirty search and didn't see an answer to this, so I apologize if I was too quick.

How many images will a 1g Sandisk Ultra II CF card hold in a 20D set on Large-Fine quality?

How about other size/brand cards? Thanks a lot.

Brand does not really matter how many a certain size card can store:

A 1 GB can store approx 110 ISO 100 and approx 90 at ISO 3200. Average = 100 per GB.

I usually get between 350-400 shots on my sandisk ultra II 1 GB card when using large/fine JPEG on my 20D. I usually get around 100 shots when shooting in RAW mode on the same 1 GB card.

I get around 100 RAW, around 300 JPG, per 1GB card.

Just over 100 RAW, about 300 at FPEG

And just for future reference, the estimates for all the JPG sizes and RAW are in the camera manual (page 47). You just have to adjust those numbers for the actual card size you're using. The numbers in the manual are for the 256 MB cards. So, for 1 GB cards, just multiply them by 4. :)

20D set @L.fine jpeg.-
ISO. IMAGES.
1oo 263
200 255
400 239
800 220
1600 208
3200 187

Of course the overall number of images depends on the exact mix of speeds used.Hope this helps.

It also matters what your object is. If you're shooting a lots of wildlife, including a lot of green leaves and grass in a shot, it will drastically reduce the number of shots you can do. Maybe 250. But shooting sky, and sunsets, I'm always doing 400-480 shots per card.
350 does sound like a good average.

Thank you, very much, for the responses. I was aiming for a general estimate of # of pix. Also, thank you for directing me to the manual. I suppose I should have remembered to look in there, too. Bad me.

Thanks, again.
