Best way to light faces?

I have a 40d and I have the 100mm macro... What is the best way to get clear face shots and with what lighting? Lighting that I could use such as a lamp or room lighting b/c I don't have enough money to buy my speed lite yet...

Explore shooting with natural light for portraits. These are some of my headshots done only using natural light of a window. I usually shoot these type of shots at 2.8 so you should be good to go with the macro.

Try to shoot on an overcast day to get the best light.

You can always go available. See the light and how it strikes your subjects face. When it looks right, shoot.
