Would you recommend Canon W2200 or i9900 for printing
DTP exact prints and A3 fotos ? ( or Epson ... ). I am looking
for a printer with good color management.
thanks in advance for any pros/cons

I LOVE my Epson 2200 but I heard they are coming out with a new model this month (I think it is the 1800). I have used my Epson for newborns through weddings and I have never been disappointed.

I have the i9900 and it produces beautiful prints with ilford classic pearl paper.
As to which is better, it is technically a toss up.
The Canon i9900 is faster, quieter and cheaper to operate on a per print basis.
The Epson 2200 will give you slightly better longevity if you use archival ink and paper (it appears to not be longer if using non-archival ink/paper). This will increase you cost even more, but is an advantage.
Both will produce wonderful prints if properly color profiled for the ink/paper combination.
I personally recommend the i9900 but I am slightly bias.
Just my research and opinion,

Guys' He's not talking bout the Epson 2200 , He's talking about the Canon Large Format W2200 Which is an office machine:

The imagePROGRAF W2200 Graphic Color Printer with ultra high-quality output at super high speeds has set new standards in Graphics printing. The W2200 accomplishes this by using Canon's newly developed 1.07-inch Bubble Jet six-chip print head. The W2200 features 2400x1200 dpi resolution, Four-Picoliter droplet size, six-color ink system, and Canon's MicroFine Droplet Technology. The imagePROGRAF W2200 produces the best resolution for color comps, conceptual drawings, graphic illustrations, and digital photos in sizes up to 13" x 19". The W2200 delivers high-speed printing with its six-color integrated high-density wide print head. With 1,280 nozzles per color for a total of 7,680 nozzles, the W2200 can deliver unprecedented print speed. The 1/1200-inch high-density nozzle head accurately delivers ink with 2400 x 1200 dpi resolution. High image quality is obtained with microscopic 4-pl droplets and Canon's Microfine Droplet Technology. The W2200 boasts excellent cost-performance with large capacity ink tanks,(130ml for each color) and a large paper capacity.
Just from that paragraph alone, you'll notice the W2200 is half the resolution, and half the droplet size as the i9900. The W2200 is meant more to be a workhorse, with plenty of ink and such, and most offices are not as picky to need 2-picalitre/4800x2400 print resolution. It's main benefit is the ink is much less costly in the long run than the i9900. The W2200 holds 130ml per color, where as the i9900 holds about 13ml per color. Its very similar to the Canon N1000 The Alzheimer's association uses here for networking (I'm their consultant). However remeber how the i9900 can pump out a 4x6 in about 30 or so seconds? The W2200 can pump out an 11x17 glossy in just under a minute.

OK, it seems it's not possible to make calibration and setup own icc profiles
for Canon i9900, while there is a version with calibrator for Epson 2200,
am I right ?

You can do so for the i9900, but far as I understand, it doesnt come with it. However my Canon i860 did come with 4 different ICC profiles which were different paper types, I assume the same may be true with the i9900.

The W2200 is horrible in quality with 4 picolitre printing. My sons R200 does a much better job in terms of quality. The only positives to the W2200 is that its pretty fast (although almost the same as i9900) and it has huge ink tanks (100+ ml each). So its cheap on the ink, but not worth the quality
The i9900 on the other hand offers speed, quality (atleast doubel the quality), and its relativly cheap on the ink. Plus u can buy a 110ml CIS system online for 180 bucks and save a crap load on ink even further.
So go with the i9900 or i9950
