This picture is a friend from work. As you can see the original was pretty messed up. I removed the scratches and tears and sharpened slightly with a high pass. I plan on printing it for him also. Can anyone see any thing else I may have missed. Honest C&C please.

I think you did a great job taking those scratches out of there. How long did that take you?

Looked a little dark to me, and I did some noise reduction.

Thanks everybody. It took about two hours to get it clean. I had not thought about noise reduction. Thanks.

Looks great. Add a tiny bit of contrast to Hawkeye's edit, and it should be complete.

Nice work on both edits, but I think it would be better with a little less overall noise reduction, or maybe just used selectively.

Good job! I like it better with the grain.

Great repair job.
I think the NR happy medium is somewhere between the OP and Hawkeyes tweak.
It needs bit of grain for some "bite" but it would benefit from being smoothed some.

+1. I think you did an excellent job on removing those scratches! And I think the noise is not really an issue when you want to print it, so a little noise reduction might be sufficient.

I prefer the original edit with the noise included. Gives it a great movie-like quality. Great work! I'm curious as to how long it took you to fix the guy's pants. That bit looks quite a bit difficult.

I think the noise reduction goes too far, especially on the left arm... but the original photo could use a little noise touch up. Keep the grain.

Thanks everyone. I am toying with some NR, but can't quite get it where I want it yet.

I used despeckle, unhsarp mask, levels, and +10 contrast in Elements.

The OP did a great job. The rest of you kind of lost a lot of detail doing the stuff you did.

I think I have it where I like it. I hit it with a little NR everywhere but the fine details. Adjusted the levels and sharpened with high pass of 2.8. I think the rest of the grain will even out when printed. Thanks to everyone again.

any way that you can sharpen up just the leftmost portion of the photo? including the MY and the floor boards... maybe overlay the photo with a gradient layer mask applying USM plus some levels and saturation. something like this:
I uploaded the PSD file to my rapidshare premium account, so you can turn on and off the layers. It's easier to see the difference that way:

GGT1...Great minds think alike!
I took your original repaired image and did some tweaks to my licking. And then I didn't bother to post it because I realized it was almost identical to your edit to post's above.
And to that note I would like to say...Nice edit

Reign... Thanks for the gradient idea. I think I have it about as good as my skill can get it.
