My better half just asked me is there is a forum for her seeing how she has been left behind for the camera a couple times now... She says there should be a forum for the signifacant other in the addicts life.

No, but while you are on the PC, give her the tv remote.

Teach her how to load the pictures in the computer and then use PS, then she will be working on your pictures and to get YOU out of HER hair she will tell you to go out and take some more pictures. Thus making everyone happy :-)

Just a thought.

disclaimer: I am not, nor have I ever been married so take any of my advice in this area with a grain of salt.

Tell her "No."

The last thing we want is for them to be talking to each other. Keep the spouses in the dark, I say, or they'll learn all our tricks.

"I've had this lens for a while now."
"It was only $200."
"No, the white lenses are pretty cheap actually. The black ones cost more."
"L? Luxury? No, it means 'lousy' really."
"Yes, this is the same camera...."

This camera will photograph our child far better than my "old" one.

Some finer restaurants used to have special menus for the ladies - without prices. Make sure you only let her see catalogs that are like this . . .

Or, if you must, keep links for those ripoff online sellers with the outrageously low prices handy.

Have Fun,

I must say the I have to agree with Scottes, don't let her anywhere near this or any other forum of its kind!! I'd suggest leaving circulars for the weekly sales at the mall prominently displayed around the house - works for me anyway! :D

Ha ha,

If my wife were to be asked to participate in a forum then she would also want to kill herself! That's no good, there would be no one to temper the spending binges :(

If you don't already know your partner's interests, find out:o !

I have purchased items that are in my wifes interest area to "compensate" for the time I spend on my hobbies. If she is busy on her interests, she will not want to be disturbed.

 Wait a sec, my wife has purchased and contributed to my hobbies quite a bit:cool: Maybe she wants me out of her hair:lol:

As well, by being knowledgable on their interests make you look like you care about their interests (even though you actually do). Many, many points to be made here.

I like the L-ANON.

Great points Jazz.

My wife's hobbies are actually why I was "allowed" to purchase $13K worth of gear in a year's time. She's had hobbies forever, but my only hobby was work for the last 10 years. When I got into photography she loved to see me away from the computer, so she said "yes" every time I mentioned a new lens.

In 10 years I'd say that she has spent a lot more than $13K on her hobbies. A lot more. So she has plenty of stuff to do when I'm out chasing birds for a day or a weekend.

Two words: Louis Vuitton

Hard to say which is cause and which is effect, but a new purse usually means a new lens, and vice versa. Reciprocity can be a fine thing.

"Well I could've gotten the f2.8 model but I settled for the f1.8 instead, just trying to save a few bucks here and there"

(Make sure she doesn't understand aperture if you try this one).

I Think most of you misunderstood the question she was asking becasue she would like to know that she is not the only spouse that gets left alone or behind depending on how you look at it. And to be able to share the funny stories she gets from me when I try to use the lines that Scottes used, and how I use the kids and pets to justify buying that new lens becasue it will make taking pictures of the kids easier (500mm f/4.0L IS) would make it easier I could be farther away...

She's definitely not alone, but we can't have her finding out our tricks. My wife actually thinks my 20D with the 300/4L is just my old Coolpix 5700 with a $250 lens on it. Now that I think about it, I had that lens delivered to a friends house too.

Actually, you guys, as the wife of a hardcore video game freak, this is my place of refuge from him. I have often wished of a VGA. (Video Gamers Anonymous, of course). Find her a good forum based on her favorite hobby, where she can meet lots of people and where she can gripe about you behind your back. It helps;)

Doesn't she have a hobby where she can leave you behind :-)

 I really do not want the enemy to organize

Though I do not have an issue with my better half, I do not want her learning new tricks from other's stories

Pekka, would you allow such a topic heading here? Got to admit though, it may be educational  Imagine how some would feel, knowing that the other half was really seeing through all the bull**** lines being used:lol:

Anyway, I've come to realize my wife actually pays into my hobbies to get me out of the house. Contributions to photography and new golf clubs.

I AM the shutterbug wife who spends a lot of time on this forum...But I recently got my hubby interested in photog, now he's on here too. There is a method to my madness.....I thought maybe he's see all your cool photos, read all your comments and soften up when I want to buy a couple of L lenses!!!

First of all, let me say that these are just a few of the reasons that I am so incredibly glad that I'm not married or attached in any way (girlfriend/fiance).

"Well I could've gotten the f2.8 model but I settled for the f1.8 instead, just trying to save a few bucks here and there"

Secondly, this has to be the best of them all, IMO! Freakin HILARIOUS! http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I think I'll make a wonderful wife for a camera addicted man sometime in the future. ;)

"Hon, what is that brown package?"
"Eh, nothing babe."
"Did you buy another lens?"
"Eh, no my friend just sent it here so his wife won't see it..."
"Bull****! I don't believe you."
"But darling, I promise it's a really cheap lens. Got it very cheap!"
"WHY THE HECK DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU WERE ORDERING A NEW LENS? You could have ordered one for me too..."

:D :D

Not "That had better be that TS 24 I've been hankering after!"? I hope he's a Canon user (but then he'd have to be, wouldn't he?).

For me, it's easy. She has a horse. Board, vet and farrier give my monthly B&H bill a good run for the money!
