I have recently upgraded from 1.3.1 to 3.6 to be able to convert .CR2 files. Well in comparisson with 1.3.1, this version has some pretty drastic changes, I think they pretty much completely redesigned the software... and they failed. I've been reading around and it seems to I'm not the only one who thinks this way (this doesn't apply to the Mac version since that one is totally different).
One thing that bothers me is how monitor profiles work... but that is also because WindowsXP is sh!tty and cannot handle separate monitor profiles for 2 monitors (I use a dual VGA card & a couple monitors). C1 prompts the user to apply the system monitor profile each time you start it up. I made the mistake of applying it, and now the RAW images look like crap since the profile of one monitor applies to both... C1 has no idea I'm using 2 monitors, but I can't blame that, since neither does Windows. Now there probably is some way to go back to the generic profile which I had used before, I just haven't discovered it yet.
Another thing that has been introduced is the way C1 handles settings for RAW files. It creates some huge files (2MB or so for each RAW file) and stores them by default in the root directory of the drive used for C1.... it's a little unconfortable having hundreds of files scattered like that.
Also, I know that RAW files from the 20D are a little larger than the ones from the 300D (obviously), but the time it takes to process them has decreased, and its entirely inconsistent (it's not because of computer, just another software bug)
... I don't know... I might start using PSCS to do my RAW conversions (at least for the stuff I don't need to do major batch processing).
I'd love any input on fixes or tricks in C1 though.
